Atheist Statement #3
This statement really just made me think of a million, well, maybe not quite a million, but a lot of questions! I can answer them, and I sort of did in earlier blogs, but how would an atheist answer them, I guess is the question. So this may be a bit different and just leave you with lots of questions to ponder and come up with your own answers. OR you could answer them in the comments to this blog, if you so desire. So on with the statement, right?
"The claims of Jesus's resurrection does not make Him a God" Hmmmm! The first thought that came to my mind was, "Then what does it make Him?" And then these questions followed in quick succession: "Have you ever heard of other people being resurrected, especially before Jesus Christ was?" "What is resurrection?" To define this particular question a bit more we need to distinguish between being brought back to life and being resurrected. Many people have died and come back to life; even a special member of my family had that experience, BUT the big difference is that they will die again at some later date. One who is "resurrected" will never die again, but live forever! And for anyone that read my first few blogs that explained the plan of life, it was pointed out that the resurrected body will be as perfect as it can be.
A few more questions that hit me then: So can a normal person like you and I be resurrected without help from someone else? What would it require? Do we have that power within us? Lots to think about there!
And my final group of questions: What specifications are required to be a God? What would a God look like in your book? But since atheists do not believe in God, how would one answer this question? So I guess the biggest question here that needs to be answered by each one of us in our hearts and souls is "Is there a God?"
I KNOW there is a God! And I KNOW that Jesus Christ is the only Begotten Son of God and that being 1/2 God and 1/2 mortal He was able to lay down His life and take it up again. He came to this earth to set the example for us and give us the opportunity to choose to become better people and someday live worthy to be resurrected and return our Heavenly Parents and Him, and continue progressing throughout all eternity. Anyone who truly wants to know of these truths can, but it requires sincere, honest pondering, studying and praying. And when that answer comes you have to be willing to obey the Lord's commandments and that is why just a curious person who is not willing to follow through may never receive an answer in this life! God knows our hearts and He knows that if we are not sincere in our desires to know and be, then it is doubtful we will ever receive an answer . . . at least not in this life. And He does that to keep from adding more condemnation on our heads by our rebellious disobedience. In the next life we will all see and be rewarded according to out sincerely righteous desires!!! And desires usually direct our actions which also count greatly in this life!! But all this was explained in my previous blogs!!!
