Happy "Mothers" Day - Week!!!

As I considered the special day we set aside to celebrate mothers I decided to write my blog about mothers. I first want to wish all of you wonderful ladies an especially wonderful Mother's Day, but I am going to add to it a bit and say "Happy MOTHERS day-week" and give you an assignment to ponder through the week.

As we have been wishing mothers a "happy Mother's Day", have we considered what role mothers have played in our lives?  I mean, one very basic thing is that none of us would be here without them beginning with birth, but that IS just the beginning here on earth!. There are the hours of caring for, guiding, and teaching us as well. Stop and consider all your mother did for you! Or continues to do! Ponder on old memories with her and her service and help to you, even in ways you have never thought of before. You can even make a list of them. If your mom is still in this world you can even thank her for them! It is always a good thing for all of us to know the good we have been in others' lives! Your doing this will not only help your mom, but you as well. And if your mom is in the next life already, well, she already knows how you feel, but you can still thank her!! (This includes those special women who may not have given you birth, but are still a part of your life and growth such as stepmothers or adoptive mothers!)

And now to add a bit to this! What other women have had an influence for good in your life? Grandmothers, aunts, sisters, teachers, wives (for you married men), mothers-in-law and the list can go on. Make a list of their names and then, as with your mother, consider the things they did for you. Put those under their names and again, be sure to thank them, whether here or in your heart and thoughts for those who have passed on.

And finally as you have considered what they have done for you, consider how you can pay them back! I promise that the greatest thing you can do for any of them is not buy them fancy things or take them to dinner, etc., BUT to follow their examples of the good and righteous things they have done that influenced your life and live true to them!!! May I end with a scripture that goes along with what I am saying here AND how I feel: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." (3 John 1:4)
