Prophecy! Is It Real?
So many people question prophecy! Many wonder how a prophecy can be true or not. The interesting thing about prophecy is that we have been told how to tell if they are true! How? If they come to pass, isn't that a pretty sure way of knowing if they are true or not? There are many prophecies that have been made throughout the scriptures, and if one takes the time to read them, they will see many that have come true and many that are in the process of coming true. Some may deal with good and beneficial things and some deal with warning signs and not so "good things" we need to be aware of.
This thought comes to me many times as I am studying the scriptures and it seems they are talking about our present day situtations. Again, some of them are good, but lately the "not so good" ones seem to jump out so clearly. Especially strong in this area are so much of what takes place in the Book of Mormon. There are so many areas that make me feel like the person writing was actually watching us and talking about out day. They aren't, of course, but another lesson from the scriptures is taught here: "Learn from history." And we should learn from ALL history, not just scripture history,
I am going to share some verses of scripture with you that have always just stuck out to me, partly because if one stops to ponder each aspect, it can definitely be seen in so many ways in our world today. So I would like you to stop and ponder the different aspects of these verses as you read them. Can you see them happening around you in the world today? And maybe, if I feel so inclined, the next week or so, I will break some of them down and point out how I see them in our world today. BUT this time it is on you!
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
And, now, my friend, ponder away!!!!!
