Ears Connect!!
Communication! Words! Timing! How those words are spoken! So is communication all about those particular things?!? Or is there more to it? Well, honest and sincere communication involves more than just what issues from your tongue and lips! If your ears are not connected, then you are out of luck in the communication field. Why? Well, ears aren't just on the sides of your head to help hold up glasses nor for decoration! Ears have a purpose and that purpose is to hear! NOW, that being said there is a huge difference between hearing and listening. You can hear creaks in the house, dogs barking down the street, and even the sound of someone crying, BUT do you really listen to what those sounds are saying? Do you really listen to what spoken words are saying?
Listening requires that you connect your ears to your brain AND your heart. You need to hear the sounds and/or the words, and let them register in your brain as to what is going on or what someone is trying to say. And then, sometimes with sounds, but always with words, you have to let your heart distinguish, what they truly mean and how best to react to them with kindness, respect, and love.
Also, there are too many times, that instead of truly listening to someone talking, we hear the words and sort of digest them in our brains, BUT we are really using our brain to figure out our own comments about the subject, or a defense against what we think is an accusation about us or our actions. And whether it is or isn't, truly listening helps to sort that out most of the time. And if it is an accusation maybe if you listen a bit more carefully and let the mind think about it, you will see how they arrived at that conclusion.
There are just SO MANY advantages to having those ears connected to the brain and heart that it just seems totally silly and worthless not to make the effort to do so. It can help solve so many issues before they become problems! It can help problems be solved before they get too big and out of hand! It can make you a better person! It can strengthen your relaitonships! Need I go on?!?! I think you get the idea! So let's make a commitment to try to get those ears of ours connected to our brains and hearts so we can become true listeners!!!
