Peter, BUT Not the Pumpkin-eater
So the last of my favorite people from the New Testament, as you can see, is Peter. There are so many things we can learn from him. He struggled with a lot of things and yet it was Peter that Christ chose to be the Prophet of His church when He returned the our Heavenly Father. Peter was the one who walked on water for a few minutes, but then got panicky and lost that faith to do so. Peter was the first one, that we are aware of, to testify verbally, "Thou art the Christ!" In other words, the first to bear testimony that he knew who Christ truly was. And yet, it was this same Peter that denied Christ three times before the condemnation and crucificion of Christ. I cannot even imagine how he must have felt when they led Christ past him and Christ looked at him . . . with love and sorrow, I am sure. I mean if you have ever had someone you love deeply do something that hurts you, you can probably feel a bit like Christ did at that time. AND if you have ever done something to hurt someone and had them look at you with pain-filled eyes, you can relate to Peter! And later, Peter swam through the water to reach the Christ on shore, first. It was there that Christ asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" And Peter went through that repentance process, was forgiven and later was chosen as the Prophet to lead the Twelve of that time.
Do you see how much we can learn from Peter about faith, love, forgiveness, serving, moving forward, and so much more?! I am grateful to learn from Peter how to become a better disciple of Christ!!! I hope you can learn from him as well!!!
