Scripture Thoughts!

As I was studying 1 Nephi Chapter 1 in the Book of Mormon I had a few thoughts that I would like to share with you!

The first insight I had was in reading verses 16 & 17: Nephi mentions that his father, Lehi, was also keeping a record. He said that after he abridged  the record of his father he would write his own record. I know I have read that many times, but guess the focus is so much on Nephi that we forget that Lehi, who was a prophet as well, also kept a record. After all, we've all been asked to keep a record of our lives and this shows that Lehi complied.

A question about the above insight arose as well: When will we be allowed to read Lehi's full works? Or even all the records kept through all the years? I mean, we possibly have some of it included in Nephi's abridgment, but when will we receive that of Lehi's? Not 100% sure I can answer that totally, but we have been told that there will be many records that have been written not only by those we already have, but by the lost tribes, etc. So it only seems logical that we will also be able to read ALL of the records of Lehi, Nephi, and all the Lord's servants. When is only answerable, to me, with "When WE are ready to receive them and live accordingly."

Another reading of the chapter also opened me up to the thought that Nephi was a second witness of the things his father shared with him. The Lord always establishes His truth with two or three witnesses. Also Nephi is not skeptical nor does he doubt his father. He believes his father and going on that belief and moving forward, greater things are shown to him.

It will be very interesting to be able to read all of the records someday! Of course, it may take eternity to read them all, but then I love reading!!!!!
