An Abundance of Boundaries

I am going to go off on a tangent for a few weeks; at least that is my plan at the moment! But, as some of you may have discerned by now, I could have another thought that bounces in and takes precedent and changes things up again! Bur for now I think I want to talk about boundaries from various aspects of life! First I want to discuss a few from nature's aspect and then will move on to human boundaries. Hopefully I can write it as well as my brain pondered it the other day while I was out working in the yard. The thing that brought it to mind were the fires that seem to hit us every summer and wreck so much havoc. So since that was where I started I will start there with these "boundary" blogs.

Fire?! Good or bad?! Well, without fire many of the foods we enjoy would be non-existent or impossible to make. Hard to have a charbroiled steak or roast hot dogs or make those yummy s'mores without fire! How would our ancestors, and many of us today, have kept warm without fire?  And for many years our ancestors only had candlelight or lanterns to give them light. Okay, so if fire is a good thing, how can it also be a bad thing? Aha!! That is the question that brings boundaries to mind. Fire, to be good and useful, must abide in the boundaries set for it. And, if it doesn't what happens? Well, as we see too often, it consumes and destroys acres and acres of land. And it isn't fussy if it is mountain land or your land or even the homes of many people , and even the lives of plants, animals and people!

So are boundaries needed when dealing with fire? YES! A fire contained within set boundaries can provide us with the good things mentioned above! But fire allowed beyond set boundaries causes, among other things,  destruction, sorrow, pain and even death! And so in this our first instance of nature, I believe we can say that set boundaries are very good AND essentially necessary!
