In Honor of Mothers
Since today is the day chosen to honor "MOTHERS", I would just like to spread my thoughts on mothers and motherhood out for this week on my blog. Mothers are special creations! Following the eternal example of our Heavenly Mother, God, our Father, granted that the female species continue the life-giving force here in mortality. Nearly all living creatures have a mother of some kind whether is it a seed produced by a plant, an egg by a bird or a living baby from an animal, mothers give life! And in the majority of instances they continue to teach and train that life to survive, learn and grow!! What an important and special calling in this life!!
I would be remiss if I did not express gratitude for the wonderful, loving, spiritual giant my mother was. She never met a person she did not like and did not learn to love. And she was a stalwart in our lives growing up. I was also blessed with special grandmothers from both of my parents, not to mention all the wonderful aunts as well as my dear sisters! And I will forever be grateful for the beautiful faith-filled mother-in-law that blessed my life in so many ways!! I have always imagined that when my mother and mother-in-law were finally allowed to meet in heaven that it was made even more heavenly. They had always wanted to meet and I am sure they clung to one another like long lost sisters.
And last, but definitely not least, I am so very grateful to my Heavenly Parents for allowing me the opportunity to be the mother of 5 very unique and very special sons. Anyone that knew me growing up knew I was a tomboy deluxe and I didn't want anything to do with "girly" stuff! I can never express the gratitude I feel that my parents patiently and lovingly taught me correct principles of life and allowed me to learn to be me, the real female me God sent me here to be!! And I am so very grateful that I have the honor of being the "MOTHER" of my five sons. I am sure the Lord knew I would never figure out how to raise a girl, but I managed with my sons. Not that I was a perfect mother! I made many mistakes! AND I am still learning, but I am so blessed to have each of my sons in my life! And they have blessed me with special daughters-in-law and granddaughters that have helped me learn a bit more about being a girl! And they help me realize that I am even more grateful to have been a mother of sons because I still struggle with some of the girly stuff. And, of course, I am grateful for my grandsons as well.
Mothers and motherhood are such important, special and wonderful callings for the women of the earth to fulfill. My prayer is that we will realize how much of an influence for good we can have not only on those who call us mom, grandma, aunt, and even sister, but on so many others who are trying to find their way in an every darkening world. May we bring the light of true motherhood; the light of caring, loving, and serving others into the lives of all of those around us!
