A Guiding Light
I had planned to continue my 2 Timonthy 3: 1-7 breakdown, BUT after watching General Conference these last few days I just had to jump to this. I can always pick up Timothy again later! He's not going anywhere. Although he can still be involved because he talks about the wickedness in these last days. How do we deal with it? What can we do? Are we left alone to figure it all out for ourselves and fight the battle alone?
The answer is a big "NO"! We were blessed these last two days with "A Guiding Light" from our Heavenly Parents, and our loving big brother and Savior Jesus Christ. How, you say? Because they reveal to our leaders, who are called and chosen by the Lord Himself, what we can do! The talks that were given were filled with counsel, advise, wisdom, love and steps we can each take to overcome the wickedness of the world! Their words can guide our own lives AND then we can use them to bless and help others to do the same.
One of the biggest things, whether verbally spoken or not, that stood out to me was "Our choices here affect how our lives here will be AND our lives after this life"! Those choices also have a huge affect in the lives of those around us, especially those we love! As we choose to draw closer to the Savior and strive to focus on living for eternal happiness, we can become more united and work together to fight the evil and wickedness that is trying to take over this world.
But we need to remember that the Lord does allow us to choose. That is part of the reason for which we are on this earth: to see if we will choose to seek the Lord's path and follow it back to our Heavenly Home where we will live as our Heavenly Parents and our Savior do or if we choose a lesser path with a less glorious living throughout eternity.
General Conference is "a guiding light" from the Lord to lead us, as we choose, through this life and on to a better one. And the talks were all so great! I can't wait for the November Liahona magazine to come out so I can re-read and re-evalute my own life even more. If you don't get the magazine you can always read and/or listen to the talks on Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.org under Conference Talks or the Liahona magazine for November.
