More Timothy Tracks
So back on track with the 2 Timothy 3:1-7 prophesies being fulfilled around us today. He points out several characteristics that are going to be ever so prevalent and growing in "the last perilous times"; in other words, the times we live in now. So let's look at a few more and see if those characteristics are growing, thriving and abounding in our world today!
Covetous! Does anyone even know what that means anymore? When you covet something that means you want something that belongs to someone else! Is that bad? That depends! If you just see something and admire it and then move on OR do honest hard work to buy one of your own that is reaching a goal. But when you covet something, you dwell on it, and let it overcome you to the point that you will take it from the other person no matter the cost. Do we see this around us nowadays? People stealing, robbing. killing to get what they want. And I doubt there are any of us who have not had the phone scam calls who try to get us to give them money! When people want something and are not willing to do the honest hard work to earn it, they are coveting. And it IS all around us every day!!!
Let's go for one more today: Blasphemers! Another one probably many people don't know the meaning of. It means the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God. I shouldn't even have to ask if you've seen this around. I highly doubt we go through one day in our lives without hearing contempt and disrespect for God all around us. Or even disrepect for sacred things. And it seems that many people do not seem to think anything is sacred anymore! Movies, books, magazines, and life itself is no longer sacred to many who are willing to torture and kill the lives around them. So I think it goes without saying that this is another prophesy that is shouting, screaming, and plaguing us from every angle nowadays.
Again, my point in sharing these thoughts on my blog is not to make us feel worse nor to degrade anyone, but to point out that prophesies are being fulfilled all around us. These just happen to be some of the bad things prophsied about. There are also good ones happening and those of us who have hope in our Savior know that these bad prophesies must come to pass before the Savior comes a second time to save the righteous people who are trying their best to follow the example He has set. So if these bad prophesies discourage you, take heart! It means the Lord is also coming closer to His return!!!
