What's This All About?!

Yes, as the title says, "what is this all about?!" Well, just a bunch of thoughts that have been on my mind these last two weeks because, YES, it's been that long since I wrote my last blog. So busy-ness seems to hit all of us and sometimes prevents us from doing those little extra things we enjoy and some things we also SHOULD do. But we have to remember to do the first things first. Sometimes those first things are things we consistently do, but sometimes a new first thing comes up and we have to make sure it gets done. So important to prioritize our daily  activites each day and do those that are truly necessary first and those that are going to make a difference in the long run. And that long run of things runs into  eternity.

Another thing that sometimes distracts us and keeps us from doing all the things we should and want to do are the tests, trials, struggles and challenges in our life. And I am sure that we ALL have them! And the variety of them is astounding as well. And there are those times that we just feel overwhelmed and wonder if we can keep going. Ever just want to disappear into a cloud or dig a hole and crawl in? I am sure we all do to some degree or another and it makes it hard to do anything. There are times like this that we need to sit back and re-evaluate things. There are times we just need a quiet break to give us the strenth and courage to keep going. Sometimes we just need someone to listen to us or hold us and let us cry. And it's okay to do those different things. In fact, each of us may need to do this variety of things or even others. Me? My top three escapes are sleep, read or watch something good on TV. And there are those times when I also need the hugs from a loved one or some kind loving ears and heart to just listen. For me, that is a bit tougher than it used to be because I have no special companion in my life anymore. BUT it certainly makes me even more grateful for other family and friends who are there for me.

Sometimes this world we live in is enough to discourage us and make us want to withdraw. And, to be sure, it is not going to get any better for a while. Again, this is a time that we need the love and support of one another. We need to become united in our efforts to help and serve one another as best we can and bless those around us as well. We need to be willing to reach out to those in need, even if it is just a smile, a hug, or a listening ear. We also need to learn to reach out to others when we are needing that help as well. That's the hard one for me!

Oh, there are so many things that can interfere with our every day lives. And because of it, we can easily get discouraged. So let's remember that everyone may be going through hard times. Let's remember that we need to live the "Golden Rule" of doing unto others as we would like them to do unto us! Let's remember that quitting never really solves anything and usually makes it worse, especially quitting on our means of coming closer to the Lord. Remember every journey ever made is done one step at a time. So let's continue to move forward one step at a time no matter how slow and shaky they may be because if we do someday we WILL know "what this is all about"!!
