Favorite People

The next question I asked in my "blog full of questions" was about favorite people in the scriptures. And in a way I am glad I did because I thought that would be a piece of cake, BUT I have really had to think. NOT, however, about my very favorite person in the scriptures! For me it's a given that it is Jesus Christ. I probably would not be very far off in saying that He is probably most everyone's favorite. But I stopped to think of other people who touched me or jumped out at me or that I related to or really appreciated and learned from. The second one after Jesus Christ was Ruth. More from the Old Testament would be Job, Abraham, Joseph, and Daniel. There could be others, but those are the names that came most readily to my mind. New Testament? Mary and Joseph, John the Baptist, John the Beloved and Peter. Book of Mormon: Sam, Abinidi, Alma the younger and his buddies - Ammon, Aaron, Omner and Himni as well as both Moronis. Doctrine and Covenants is a bit different, but along with it, the Pearl of Great Price, I would have to say Joseph Smith Junior.

Now, to be clear, of course, Jesus Christ is the main purpose of all scripture and is in all of the books so He definitely is my favorite who teaches us so much and sets such a great example of all things for us. That being said the other people in the scriptures can also teach us a lot to help us draw closer to Jesus and learn and grow. Maybe I will take some time to say why some, if not all, of these people are my favorites and what I have learned from them. We'll see what next week brings!!!
