Group Favorites

      Today I am going to group my Book of Mormon favorites because they were a group of friends who followed nearly the same path in many ways. Any ideas of who they might be? They started out against the church and tried bringing it down, but due to the prayers of one of my favorites, Alma the Elder, who was father to one of them, AND I am sure prayers of many others, the Lord intervened and set them on the right path!! Yup! Alma the Younger and his buddies, the sons of King Mosiah, Ammon, Aaron, Omner and Himni. 

     When I say the Lord set them on the right path, I feel I need to clarify that He told them what the consequences of their actions would be IF they did not change, BUT it was left up to them. I am grateful that they each were good-hearted men who took the time to think it through and made the choice to follow the Lord's path and set such a good example for us to follow. They did all they could to correct the problems they had created in the area they lived in, for their previous example and words had set many against the church. And to truly repent one must try to correct or make restitution for their wrongs. And they did that. They were so concerned about others suffering as they might have IF they had not changed, that they went and served missions, even to the Lamanites, who were enemies of the Nephites. And it was not easy, but they did finally touch many hearts and help many to find the Lord as they had done!!

     So much of this touches my heart for I am a mother and my prayers are continually for the benefit and welfare of my children to be touched and led by the spirit so one day we can all be together eternally. May we do our best to follow the example of these courageous, humble and good men in serving the Lord to the best of our ability and capacity to do so!!
