Two Peas in a Pod

As the title of this blog suggests, I am going to talk about two of my favorite Book of Mormon people, who in many ways could be considered two peas in a pod. The number one reason is because they have the same name! They were also men of courage, strength, leadership, and tremendous faith in God to lead them and direct them in their own lives and challenges! Who might they be? They share the name Moroni! The first, Captain Moroni, was born many years earlier than the second Moroni, who appears at the end of the Book of Mormon! But even so they both did their parts to save their country, their people, and their faith! For the first Moroni, that all happened, and he lived in peace afterwards until the Lord called him home. To the second Moroni, sadly, he was only blessed with more trials to face alone in a war-ravaged land that had rejected the Lord and was seeking to kill any who believed in God. This Moroni, like the first, would not deny God nor any part of his faith and so he lived alone until he was called home. But he was so faithful in his final efforts that the Lord had him return to deliver the gold plates, he had hidden, to Joseph Smith in restoring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I honor and respect both of these Moronis and even though their trials were different they hung on and did their part to remain true to the Lord and His gospel. They set remarkable examples for us to follow! I hope that with the trials I am called to face I can learn to be as faithful and strong as these two men were!
